It’s been over a decade since I lost my daadi.. her humming, aate ki barfi, long champis and water matka are a few of the many, many things I miss about her

Over these past few years, I felt a strong longing for matke ka paani every time I had a glass of refrigerated water.. the taste, the khushboo, even the sound of a matka is so beautiful

Along my journey of learning to take care of my clay pot, I learnt that covering it with a damp cloth helps with cooling the water inside it

Would you have guessed that the jute bag in this video was almost tossed on to the road by a fruit vendor? I had handed it over to him to keep some mangoes I bought but they ripped this old bag and fell straight on to the road

Bhaiyya asked me “kya karoge aise fatte bag ka?”, and I insisted that I was sure I would find a use for it

I was very surprised to see that nobody in the comments of Urfi’s original video pointed out how using fresh unused plastic bags as decoration on a dress isn’t recycling

🍳 Non-stick cookware → Did you know non-stick cookware has Teflon coating which is a type of plastic?

🕯️ Scented candles → Release airborne pollutants and fragrance chemicals cause hormone disruptions

This week’s 🌱Green Habits🌱 were focused entirely on ❌not letting resources go to waste 🗑️

🍀The repaired hanger 👩‍🔧 now easily takes the weight of lightweight clothes like shirts 👕

Fixing it with paper tape barely took me 2 minutes ⏱️

It was such a quick fix 👌 to help extend the life of a product that a ton of 🏭resources went into producing

✨Repairing is always more sustainable than replacing or recycling✨

🍀My family doesn’t use plastic bottles anymore as plastic leaches🧪 hormone-disrupting chemicals and microplastics into food and water 🍛

I made citrus Bio Enzyme🍋 using lemon and sweet lime peels in the bottles

They were perfect for this because they had a wide mouth and were air tight as well

💛If you’re new to Bio Enzyme, it’s a multi-purpose liquid made from fruit/veggie peels, jaggery and water (in a ratio of 3:1:10)

After it’s fermented for 1-3 months, you can dilute it and use it as a

Floor cleaner, pesticide, dish washing detergent, surface cleaner and more!

✨repurposing is more sustainable than recycling and replacing✨

And

✨Bio Enzymes make use of kitchen waste (fruit + veggie peels) to make excellent cleaners which also help to purify water✨

🍀The last idea of growing nutritious microgreens from groceries which have pests was actually borrowed from my mom

She does this with all whole dals and grains that are old or have pests 🌾

✨Using pested groceries for growing microgreens ensures that our farmers’ efforts and planet’s many resources don’t go to waste✨
